About Jonah Holland

I am an award-winning social media consultant. As president and founder of Mox-eMedia LLC, I advise non-profits, helping them discover their full potential in emerging media. Current and former clients include the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Garden Club of Virginia, & The National Museum of the Marine Corps. My goal is to provide non-profits with the expertise they need to fully understand and integrate social media into their organization, and to train them to use it in accomplishing their non-profit mission. I am a 2010 winner for the Shorty Award, the Oscar of Twitter, in the category cultural institution.

More about Jonah:

Growing up, I always wanted to be a reporter. I wanted to dig for the facts, write about them, and change people's lives. Only trouble was it didn't work that way. Connecting with people through my stories was more difficult than I thought. The problem: one way communication. I wanted to build a connection with my audience that just wasn't happening. I wanted interaction.

In 1998 I left a job I'd held for several years as a contributing editor and photographer at Style Weekly for a job in customer service. Suddenly, connections were not only easy but the lifeline of my job, and interactive.  It was something I found that I loved about work, and years later,  those skill continue to serve me.
Fast forward to the 21st century. My writing and photography background, combined with my desire for genuine connections with people, positioned me in a great place to discover and fall in love with social media.

Jonah Holland is Mox-eMediaGirl.

About Mox-eMedia, LLC

Today's emerging media is about building real relationships & connecting in new ways.  At Mox-eMedia, we can help you connect with people in your community -- including those you serve, the media, new audiences, donors, & volunteers.   Mox-eMedia incorporates technology, innovation & education into everything we do.

We help clients by meeting them where they are, listening to their needs, and giving them the tools they need to reach their goals.  We believe in empowering & educating people so that they can best serve their organization.  Whether we are speaking to hundreds at a conference, or working one-on-one with individual clients, our focus is always on teaching the basic tenets of our philosophy -- that social media should be authentic, transparent, passionate, build a sense of community and bring value to all.

Mox-eMedia is educational. We are the parent company for RightStart Solutions, specializing in using technology, visual problem-solving & emerging media to create a better education system for our children.  To learn more about RightStart Solutions' philosophy, visit the Emergent Learner blog.

Mox-eMedia is about building community. We publish the Near West End News, a hyper-local community news blog, and a member of the RVANews Network.  The Near West End is our home and publishing NWEN not only helps us stay connected with people and issues important to our community, but it's also a way for us to give back.

Mox-eMedia Mox-eMedia LLC is a woman-owned business, founded in 2010 by Jonah Holland. She and her husband, J.M. Holland make up Mox-eMedia.

Philosophy

At Mox-eMedia we believe in building lasting relationships -- relationships built through multiple connections and real interaction with people.  The new web is a social web and it is ever changing. At Mox-eMedia we are always learning something new, and always striving for better ways to communicate.

Humans have always built relationships.  What's different about these relationships is that they form online in new media --  on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, forums and social sites like Ning -- they all offer a unique opportunity to grow and build real organic relationships with new people.  Today's web offers opportunities to meet and connect with exactly the people who share your special interest.  Whether you seek to build relationships across the world or down the street, we can help you reach your goals.

Mox-eMedia will help you create a media presence based on real interactions, high quality content, and emotional connection with your audience.
